DESCRIPTION: EPW - Barraud & Lunds, 41 Cornhill, London, free-sprung lever fusee with winding indicator, 54mm, 18K gold OF original case bearing London hallmarks for 1871, casemaker's "GMHD" marking in cameo, center rear with initials, gold cuvette, white enamel DS dial, SW-pin-set with retained KWKS arbors (a key is included as pictured), fully capped lever escapement, free-sprung balance with diamond endstone, 17J, gilt mvt, s#2/9821 with matching serial number within case and to dial. Comes as pictured with a fitted leather Barraud, Lund & Sons, 41 Cornhill marked box. Gross weight of assembled watch 91.3 dwt (141.9 g).
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, good winding indicator function, mvt with a pungent odor presumably from decaying old oil suggesting it has been ages since it has last seen a servicing, overhaul recommended for this reason, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, main plate with some mild ultra-fine scratch striations presumably from a past wiping; dial flawless though with some surface dirtiness; excellent hands; case shows light wear, small ding to rear right of center, engine turning detail good through central portions but reducing toward periphery and progresses to full loss at shoulder; tight bow, crown shows light wear; good glass crystal; box shows light to medium wear, some scratches, scrapes and finish loss to exterior, silk liner inside upper lid with what appears to possibly be a pencil mark.
ESTIMATE: $3000 - $4000
